New Infield

The turf is down ... thanks to all those who helped with the laying of our new infield - it looks a treat!
Special thanks to Tim Hanson, who was the main driving force in getting this done. A big pat on the back to Tony Totaro for doing the final prep work, it wouldn't have happened without Titta's last minute heroics, and finally to the Frankston Council - for paying!

*** Update - Ground - Re-Grass ***

The turf laying day has now been locked-in for Saturday 21 November with a 7.30am start.

We need a minimum of 15 people to lay turf, please reply via email to the club frankston.secretary@gmail.com that you are going to be there.

Please make the effort to help out, especially if you expect to be playing on it next winter!

The job should take approx 3 hours to complete - with the help of the council and the turf management company.

30 October 2015

Ground - Re-Grass

For those in the Club that didn't know - the main diamond is in the process of being dug up and new grass laid. The machines will be busy on it for the next week (see photos) and then it will be ready for us as a Club to lay new turf.

We have a tentative turf laying day of Saturday 14 November 2015.

We will require at least 20 people to assist with the laying of the turf, please let Tim Hanson know if you can help out (even a hour of your time will be appreciated).

Having Council (Gavin and his team) on-board to do the prep work and supply the turf is fantastic - we now need to supply some man power to finish the job!

Under 14 State Winter Championships - Wrap Up

The Committee of the Frankston Baseball Club would like to thank everyone that attended the 2015 Under 14 State Winter Championships this past weekend. We are very grateful for the positive feedback we have received relating to the running and coordination of the event.
We must thank Baseball Victoria and the Dandenong Baseball Association for the opportunity to host the tournament and most importantly thank all the participating associations and the teams they entered for their commitment to junior baseball in Victoria.
The weather was eventually kind to us which only enhanced the objective of the weekend which was to see kids playing the great game of baseball.

Things were looking grim on Friday as we set up the grounds, and it wouldn't stop raining. More overnight rain and Saturday morning we had the crew working again from before sun-up to get the final touches in place, and it was games on.
The Club most importantly thanks every player, supporter, friend and family member of our Club for lending their time to help. There were some fantastic displays of teamwork throughout the weekend and for this we are most grateful.

Some special thanks do go to: Daryl Dicker and the grounds crew - what a mighty effort after all the rain we had to present 4 fantastic diamonds. Annette O'Brien and the canteen crew - nothing Annette does in the canteen surprises us, she just gets it done, even when we lost power there for a while! Rob Davis and the BBQ crew - 7am egg & bacon rolls was just the start of their day ... Davo is offically the chicken schnitzel king, personally cooking a whopping 300 of them. Stacey Gloury, with Sharon Hussey, Maree Davis and others for putting together all the team lunch orders, this was the most impressive production line seen - Stace even delivered the lunches to the teams in the golf buggy (she loved driving that buggy)!
Last but not least, huge pat on the back to Tim Hanson who took on the roll of coordinator. Tim spent countless hours over the past 2-3 months bringing everything & everybody together, most members probably don't realise how much planning/organising/work Tim did - it was a lot!!!

Again, well done to all - Go Tomatoes.

Also, now that we have worked out the sprinklers, hopefully the main diamond will be looking great at the start of the 2015 winter season. A big thank you to Maree Davis who came down and fed the crew, it was very much appreciated, and Tim for the beers afterwards ... bad luck Willo - you left too early!
