Season 2014

Another season has come to a close. A very well attended (full house) presentation night on Friday rewarded on-field accomplishments and also those who do the work 'behind the scenes'.
Well done to all, in particular all on the committee, coaches, the Premiership A2 team, and to Rod Burt on receiving Life Membership.
A full list of award winners will be posted soon ...

Finally, a special thanks to one of our sponsors: Cold Rock Ice Creamery in Frankston - for the fantastic 'premiers' ice cream cake, one of the highlights of the night!

Well Done!

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September saw The Patch once again host the Junior Grand Finals, and for the first time host the Senior Preliminary Finals for the association - and what a great weekend it was. For those of you able to make it down, you would have seen just how beautiful and professional every diamond looked, how abundantly we catered for both days, and how hard so many of our members were working.
What you didn't see was all the behind-the-scenes prep work that was put in to make a successful weekend happen. We had a big crew of ground staff at the club on Friday afternoon and evening who worked for hours to set up home run fences, mark diamonds, mow lawns and maintain the grounds. We also had a canteen crew who set up, prepped and ran the canteen, making everything from our famous schnitzel sandwiches to ham and salad rolls, chopping onions for the barbeque and cutting rolls for the egg and bacons, to keeping the masses fed with traditional baseball fare of dim sims and hot dogs. On top of all that, we had a BBQ bunch cranking out the bacon and egg rolls, snags and burgers on both days, along with the bartenders who looked after those wanting a beverage after 12pm.
Normally, this would be the point where I thank people by name ... but this time I'm not going to as I'm sure I'd miss someone. And I don't want to miss thanking anyone for their time and effort over the past 3 days. I'm delighted to say we had such an amazing amount of help given over the weekend by our members and supporters, and that it was truly the definition of a team effort. From all reports, we were praised on every aspect of our work and organisation, with many asking why we don't host more events like this!
So to those of you who were able to give us as much of your valuable time and energy as you could, thank you. To those on the committee who worked tirelessly to make the weekend run so smoothly, thank you. And to the Association for giving us the opportunity to show the rest of the league just what our fantastic club is capable of, thank you.
I am extremely proud of our club and what we achieved and humbled by all the support given. I hope this is the start of a long and successful run of hosting major events for our association.
