Official Opening of our New Clubrooms

The Frankston City Council has issued an invitation to the official opening of the new Robinsons Park Sports Pavilion on Saturday 26th October, and we would very much like all members and friends to attend.
This will be a great opportunity to show the Council how much support the Frankston Baseball Club has, and to acknowledge all the hard work that has gone into making these rooms happen.
The opening will be held at Robinsons Park, Robinsons Road, Frankston (Melway 103 B11) on Saturday 26th October from 10:30-11:30am. We would love to see everyone associated with FBC wearing something with a Tomato logo or club colours.
The event is being catered by the Council, so please RSVP your ability/inability to attend to Emma by Friday 18th October via email:
Feel free to bring your family and friends along to celebrate this occasion.

Tomato Schnitzel in World Series

Nick Veale just completed a successful season playing at North Iowa Area Community College with the NIACC Trojans. Nick played a key role in the Trojans' first ever Regional Title. They had a29-16 win loss record for the season before winning the Region XI Tournament to advance to the North Plains District Tournament and then the NJCAA Division II World Series.
Used from the bullpen early in the season, 'Schnitz' forced his way into the starting rotation. Despite a wild start in the Regional Tournament he got to start Game 2 in the North PlainsDistrict Tournament and pitched 6 2/3 innings with 3K 5BB 2RS, beating Dakota County 10-2, the 8 Run Rule enforced after 7 innings. Coach Travis Hergert described it as 'a gutty, guttyperformance'.
The Trojans won the North Plains District Title to qualify for their fist ever trip to the World Series. All the Tournaments are played by double elimination where you are eliminated after 2 losses. The World Series is competed by 10 teams. The Trojans won their first 2 games and moved to the winners' bracket. Nick started Game 3 against Heartland with a 7-1 record 3.14ERA 34K 23BB 43IPand took a 3-1 lead into the 6th inning. Unfortunately 4 errors in the inning forced a pitching change and they lost 7-3. Coach Hergert said 'he was a bulldog and gave us every chance to win'. TheTrojans lost their next game and finished 5th in the World Series.
Rumour has it Nick will be back shortly during 'summer break', hopefully he will suit up with the Tomatoes for a few games.
